At the Chugoku Regional Invention Awards hosted by the Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation, the most outstanding inventions submitted by the five provinces of Chugoku region were awarded. The award ceremony was held at the luxurious Hiroshima Garden Palace in Hiroshima City. Established in 1923, the Regional Invention Award aim to encourage improvement in science and technology and promote local industries. The awards are given to excellent inventions that can be used beneficially throughout the country. Mr. Shuichi Adachi from Mitsubishi Mahindra Agricultural Machinery Co. Ltd. received the Shimane Governor's Award for his invention on the abnormality determination control for traction load of tractors (Patent No. 6342795). Whenever an abnormality was detected in the towing load during operation, an alarm has been set to sound off. However, if suddenly the brake is applied or the tractor is accelerated while an implement being raised, a large load is suddenly detected by the sensor due to the effect of the inertia of the implement mounted behind the tractor, resulting in an unnecessary alarm. But if the normal range of the sensor value is widened to eliminate such unnecessary alarms, a delay in the reaction occurs in the automatic control required during operation, and also an excessive operation load causes damage to implements. This invention, however, measures how long it takes for the load detection sensor to fall out of the normal range, sound an alarm when the measuring time exceeds a predetermined time and change the measuring time for non-operating time, thereby regulating an unnecessary alarm.
The invention has twofold benefits as it helps in achieving a reduction of downtime due to an alarm while the tractor is moving as well as a delicate load control during the operation.
