Mahindra Farm Equipment Debuts In South Africa

Mahindra’s visionary move increased its footprint in South Africa. After 15 successful years in thecountry, during which Mahindra flourished its business interests in the automotive and information technology sectors, it launched its farm equipment range, including tractors and implements
At the grand event organised at De Hoek Country Hotel, Magaliesberg, select models in the 7500 and 6000 series of Mahindra tractors as well as the entire range of farm equipment, including Mahindra implements, Sampo Combines and Hisarlar implements – sourced from India, Turkey and Finland – were unveiled. The presence of industry icons, leading distributors and channel partners, banking officials and media made the event a true success.

“With the strong historical bonds between India and South Africa, we have embraced South Africa as our home outside India and have already established a strong presence in the automotive business.” Referring to the plant which was set up a year ago to assemble its Pick Up range, which is now among the Top 6 brands in the category in South Africa, he continued, “South Africa will always be our base for Africa. We have our assembly plant in Durban and we have built our brand in automotive.”
Mr. Mathew added, “We have also seen initial success in our generators and construction equipment businesses. We feel this is the right time for us to introduce our wide range of farm solutions here.

Mr. Rajesh Gupta (CEO, Mahindra SA) said, “Mahindra is the world's largest tractor manufacturer by volume and many of our models are designed for markets that demand tough and efficient solutions which are also effortless to operate in harsh conditions. Our initial market study shows that these attributes are in high demand in South Africa as well and we trust that our products will find favour with customers.” He continued, “Extensive research across South Africa has shown that farmers want versatility, efficiency, reliability, comfort and good service, which matches exactly with what the Mahindra tractors launched here offer.”
The tractors and implements were gloriously displayed at the event and unveiled amidst much fanfare. Media and industry partners test drove the tractors and highly appreciated them. At the event, Mahindra showed its commitment to doing good for the farming community by partnering with a prominent agricultural school to offer a highly beneficial course, The Tractor Operators Course. With this launch, Mahindra will make a deep impact on the lives of farmers in the African continent and give them the opportunity to Rise.
