We have been expanding our global operations

and South Africa is a key market for us.

“With the strong historical bonds between India and South Africa, we have embraced South Africa as our home outside India and have already established a strong presence in the automotive business.” Referring to the plant which was set up a year ago to assemble its Pick Up range, which is now among the Top 6 brands in the category in South Africa, he continued, “South Africa will always be our base for Africa. We have our assembly plant in Durban and we have built our brand in automotive.”

Mr. Mathew added, “We have also seen initial success in our generators and construction equipment businesses. We feel this is the right time for us to introduce our wide range of farm solutions here.

Farmers want versatility, efficiency, reliability,

comfort and good service, which matches

exactly with what the Mahindra tractors

launched here offer.

Mr. Rajesh Gupta (CEO, Mahindra SA) said, “Mahindra is the world's largest tractor manufacturer by volume and many of our models are designed for markets that demand tough and efficient solutions which are also effortless to operate in harsh conditions. Our initial market study shows that these attributes are in high demand in South Africa as well and we trust that our products will find favour with customers.” He continued, “Extensive research across South Africa has shown that farmers want versatility, efficiency, reliability, comfort and good service, which matches exactly with what the Mahindra tractors launched here offer.”

The tractors and implements were gloriously displayed at the event and unveiled amidst much fanfare. Media and industry partners test drove the tractors and highly appreciated them. At the event, Mahindra showed its commitment to doing good for the farming community by partnering with a prominent agricultural school to offer a highly beneficial course, The Tractor Operators Course. With this launch, Mahindra will make a deep impact on the lives of farmers in the African continent and give them the opportunity to Rise.
